The Dragons' Fangs

The Plot!

Many years ago, humans and animals lived in harmony. Among these were nine great dragons. Each of them was represented by an element. Over the years, many more dragons were born, each having an element. However, as time passed, humans grew to hate and fear the dragons. They forged great swords of steel and hunted down all the dragons. After a long time, only the greatest dragons, the first nine, were still alive. With the last of their power, they released their souls from their bodies into massive gemstones which were hidden deep underground. In doing so, all of the dragons died.

Now, in the present, the gemstones have been unearthed and each released its soul into a human. The nine humans, unaware of this, continued their lives as usual, until the night when the darkest power was released. It spread across the land, sowing fear and destruction in its wake and releasing the dark beasts. But, in doing so, each of the gemstones was transformed into a great sword made out of a single incredibly strong piece of the gemstone. These swords, known as the Dragons' Fangs, were the only weapons capable of destroying the dark beasts.

Now, the swords have come closer to those humans with the dragon souls, the nine humans destined to wield them. But the dark beasts have come and they will do all they can to stand in the humans' way. Will the light return, or will the darkness triumph? The answer to that question rests in the hands of nine humans, nine blades and nine souls.

Rules!

1. Follow all typical roleplay rules
2. Please try to avoid bad language.
3. Only one dragon-soul human per person.
4. If an element is already taken, you can't have another character with the same dragon-soul and element.
5. All the swords have a special power related to their element. You decide what that power is, but no ultimate anything. Invincible and ultimate makes it no fun.
6. The type of jewel makes no difference as to the strength of the sword, all of them are equally strong.

Now for the elements!

Earth: NOT TAKEN

The earth element sword is average length and thicker than a typical sword. It is made out of emerald.

Fire: TAKEN (by Boredum)

The fire element sword is slightly longer and much sharper than average. It is made out of ruby.

Water: TAKEN (by Chiaki)

The water element sword is gracefully curved. It is made of sapphire.

Air: NOT TAKEN

The air element sword is long and thin and appears very fragile. It is made of quartz.

Ice: TAKEN (by Ryuu)

The ice element sword is long and slightly curved. It is made of sapphire with veins of silver.

Lightning: NOT TAKEN

The lightning element sword is sleek and sharp. It is made of topaz.

Shadow: TAKEN (by Fury)

The shadow element sword is average length and quite thin with a very sharp point. It is made of black diamond.

Light: NOT TAKEN

The light element sword is longer than average length and slightly thicker than average. It is made of diamond.

Spirit: TAKEN (by Dragncat)

The spirit sword is longer than the air sword and average thickness. It is made of light amethyst.

(Okay, sure! Now, let's get this started!)

Kinira ran. She could hear them behind her, getting closer by the second. The dark beasts chased her. They had been chasing her for an hour now. She had first heard them from very far away. These dark beasts had the form of wolves, but they were twice the size of normal wolves and hideously twisted. When Kinira had heard them, she had began to run. Every second, the dark beasts had gotten closer. Kinira was terrified. All her life she had been a simple slave girl. She had never even heard a dark beast until this night, this night when they had attacked a village. She had heard them, heard them calling. They were hunting her. Why her, though? She was just an ordinary slave girl. She did look different from the other girls her age, though. She was taller than any of them, with long legs and blond hair so light it was practically white. Her eyes were different too, a soft purple colour. She did look different, but why would that make the dark beasts hunt her? Suddenly, she heard a voice in her mind, strong yet gentle. "Child, do not fear." She almost screamed. The voice laughed. "You need not fear me. I shall help you. Do you see the cliff over there? Run to it. Seek the cave. You will know which one." Kinira knew she should do what the voice said. She ran towards the cliff as fast as she could, looking for a cave. She saw three there and was instantly drawn to the one on the left. As she reached the mouth of the cave, the dark beasts burst out of the forest, chasing her. Kinira, terrified, ran deeper into the cave, following every twist and turn. She saw a glow them, faint, but there. It was soft purple, the same as her eyes. Kinira gasped as she rounded the final corner and saw it there. It was a sword, at least twice as long as every other sword she had seen. What was more amazing about this sword, though, was that it was made of pure amethyst. "Pick it up." said the voice. Kinira yelped in surprise. Whoever the voice was wanted her to have this? "Hurry, take it!" called the voice. Kinira nodded and grasped the hilt, picking up the sword. It looked as though it would weigh a lot, yet it felt like it was made of air. Kinira looked at the entrance to the small cave she was in, seeing the dark beasts charging at her. Following her instinct, Kinira swung the sword. It struck all three dark beasts, which disappeared into tiny wisps of darkness, then they were gone. Kinira looked at the sword. It seemed to be glowing. In that moment, she knew that it was meant for her and her alone.

Several miles away a 10 year old girl hid under her bed, shacking all over and sobbing silently. A sound came form just outside her room and she held her breath, terrified. She could see a shadow pass slowly by beyound the door. When it had gone she resumed her silant crying.
Finally, after half an hour it sounded to her as though those...things, monsters, shadows come alive, what ever they were had finally left. Slowly she pushed herslef from under the bed and crept to the door. She pushed open the door, which creaked horiible and padded aloung the corrider of her huge house. She saw several of the servents dead. Well Mummy had always called them servents but they were really slaves. What ever that ment. She carefully went downstairs, fresh tears welling up at the sight of her dead brothers and mother. Suddenly she heard a groun from another room and ran into the study, wondering what coudl have made teh painstrickel sound. Then she saw her father...

[Dragncat]

Kinira stood up, unaware that she had fallen down. "I have to get back. I have to protect the others!" she yelped. The voice spoke again. "Do you speak of those who enslaved you? You have no more obligation to protect them. The dark beasts will have killed most or all of them." "But I have to get back!" screamed Kinira. "Very well, then. I shall lend you my power." said the voice. The sword began to glow with soft purple light. Kinira closed her eyes. When she opened them again, the light had faded and she was standing in the village. More of the dark beasts were here. Kinira started to back away, but the beasts had her surrounded. Following her instinct, she swung the sword in a wide arc. It struck three dark beasts, clearing a path out. Kinira ran out of the ring of dark beasts, then struck. Her sword flashed with light as the remaining dark beasts disappeared in wisps of darkness. Kinira saw several more leaping into a house and jumped in after them. She looked around the room. Suddenly, she recognized the house. This was her home, where she was a servant! The dark beasts had destroyed her master's family! But where was her master and her master's daughter! At that moment, more dark beasts leaped through the door straight at her. Kinira stepped back. The beasts leapt at her, howling, but she dodged away, leaving the beasts flying through a doorway. Kinira followed the beasts, stopping in the doorway at the sight before her.

[Fury]

Kaden covered his ears, hearing noises all around. He sat in the shadows with his face buried in his knees. "Do not be so afraid..." a voice whispered in his mind. He bolted upright. His eyes widened in absolute terror. "It's okay... Follow the feeling. Yes there you are. See?" He squinted and for a moment could see a sword's outline flickering in the surrounding shadows. "Take it." the voice commanded. He didn't like how it had taken on an almost violent tone even for a male. Yet this voice was female. He did as told and gripped the sword and the resulting shock wave running up his arm made him yelp. "The shadow sword..." he whispered, feeling like he had some sort of knowing.

She walked tewards her father, sure that he was dead already, despite teh noise she had heard. But then she heard him whisper her name. "Helia..." She rushed tewards were he lay on the floor, a pool of blood souraounding him. "Dadda!" She gasped. He slowly reached tewards his neck and touched the key she knew was tied to a leather cord around her neck. He yanked it off and despite teh strong leather, it snapped off. He then reached tewatrds her with it and croaked "The chest. Open the chest."

(I havent got time to do anymore at the mo. If you podt could you not come to her quite yet dragncat, please?)

(Okay.)

Kinira yelped as more dark beasts attacked her. She tried to dodge, but one got her, grabbing her arm in its jaws, pulling her away from the doorway. Kinira pulled away, screaming as the teeth tore at her arm. She backed up, panting, trying to get away from the dark beasts. Her former confidence was gone. She was the fearful slave girl again. She swung the sword, striking the dark beast that had attacked her, destroying it. She dropped the sword, now feeling its weight. Her arm was throbbing and she was terrified. Suddenly, she heard the voice again. "Be brave, Kinira. Have faith in your power and you shall survive." Kinira nodded and picked up the sword again. Immediately, the long blade began glowing with a faint purple light. She faced the doorway where the remaining dark beasts stood, prepared to fight.

Mizu was surrounded by darkness so thick she could almost touch it. Trying desperately hard not to panic she took a step forward. Her attempt to leave the darkness was in vain. It seemed to follow her wherever she went. Not wanting to wake the house by screaming she stuffed her fist in her mouth. "Open your eyes" said a small voice. She was confused. How could she open her already wide eyes? "Open your eyes" said the voice again, in a more authoritative way than before. Mizu blinked. Nothing happened. "Look into your heart and open your eyes!" commanded the voice. Mizu turned her gaze inwards, and opened the eyes of her heart. She looked up and in front of her was a bright blue light. She went forward towards it, glad of a chance to escape from the dark. She entered the light and woke up. Just a dream she thought. She reached down to pull up her bedclothes and realised they were soaking wet. How had this happened? Where had all the water come from? Exasperated, she got out of her bed and began stripping it down. She would have to find clean bedclothes... but wait, what was that in the corner? She appraoched it cautiously and realised it was a sword. The most beautiful she had ever seen! It's gently curving blade, oh it was wonderful! She picked it up, and heard the small voice give a sigh of relief. She had done the right thing.

Open the chest! Had he really said, open the chest. She turned to it and hestietnly went tewards it. It was her fathers most traesured possesion, noone else was allowed to tuch it. Ever. She remenbered vaguly learning this teh hard way as a child of about 5 or 6. As stupied as it sounded, she had been convinced something was in there whispering to her, and so she had tried to prize the lock open. Her father had found her doing so and and was angryer then she had ever seen him before, or after. When she had tried to explain to him why she had done it, he had become even more angry then before and hit her hard round the face. That was why, even to this day, her face, which otherwise woudl have been pretty, was ruined by a large, hand shaped red blotch.
