She really felt sorry for him now. Sorry for a Howlinka? The idea was laughable, or at least would have been just a few minutes ago. But now? What had changed? Her understanding of Howlinka? No, she still knew next to nothing about them. What then? She was even more confused now but tto hid it she asked "What about other Howlinka? Becouse they are like you, surely they understand?"

He blinked as if confused and surprised by the question at the same time. Don't tell her! She doesn't need to know. hissed the demon again, enraged now that Hokuze was still clearly ignoring him. "Ah yes, now that would make sense I suppose. See that is the mission I have set upon myself, finding other Howlinka to form a pack. There we would be safe and understood."

This made her even more interested. "Havent you met mnay others before then? I knew you were rare and hardly seen these days but I dident realsie there were that few of you. And what do you mean safe? Your a Howlinka, surely nothing ever botehrs you?" She stopped suddenly and almost laughed "Apart from me, I mean."

He laughed, a powerful echo that came right from both him as well as the demon within him. "You don't bother me at all Sky. I'm quite comfortable speaking to you." Hokuze shook his head and stopped his laughter with a quick glance to the stars. "What I mean by safe is... nobody talks to us for fear we will destroy them. Wouldn't it be nice to have a group where we all fit in? The problem is I've never met another Howlinka. Not even part Howlinka until I met you."

She had jumped again at his laugh but soon calmed down. So he really hadent ever met another Howlinka? Wow. She couldent really blame other creatures for avoiding him. Howlinka had a terrible reputation. suddenly a thought about other Howlinkas accured to him. "What about your mother? Or father? Or other relitives though?"

He hung his head sadly. "Howlinka are a rare occurrence. Neither of my parents were one of us. They were both regular earth-bound wolves. However a demon bonded with me. I'm glad one did but it resulted in the eventual murder of them both."

This made her wonder at how she had become to vaguly resemble a Howlinka at all. Though physical appearance and demon souls might not be completly interlinct. How else woudl you explain her Howlinka like colour? The idea of his parents murders was very ominous. She wondered who had killed them...

"We Howlinka aren't exactly the most...well liked... creatures of the land. Having one for a child complicated things. My poor mother and father. They did nothing to deserve it. And people can wonder why I have negative feelings towards regular wolves?"

"So..." She said, thinking about it. "Did normal wolves kill your parents becouse of you being a Howlinka?" She said it as gently as she could, not wanting to offend him. It was a delocite situation as it was, without her getting him angry and upset.

He just nodded gravely. While the blue spikes on part of his neck stood up from their previously relaxed position he didn't seem upset with her. Perhaps he felt she had the right to have her questions answered? His wings drooped and he whispered hoarsely, "It wasn't their fault."

"No no... I didn't mean you said they had deserved it. Calm down. I'm a Howlinka not an idiot, I don't put words in the mouths of others. I apologize if I offended you by making you believe otherwise." Hokuze said almost in a panick.

Oh no! Did he now think she thought he was an idiot? No. No. She should just calm down. Both of them were getting wound up again for nothing. Suddenly she heard a howl, not all that far off. It was a normal wolfs and the lone howl was soon joined by many others. It felt full of anger and bloodlust. They had regrouped and in much larger numbers now. Had they decided to take on her and what ever it was they heard holw eralyer? Had they realised it was their old enemys cry, the cry of a Howlinka?

Hokuze's fur stood on end and the blue spikes on his neck rose up as if they were quills. His eyes changed to a mixture of red and orange with no white or pupil and gave off a demonic glow as he tapped into his strength. He raised his head and let out a long howl with an underlying demon-energy. "I warned them that if they come they will not defeat me," he said when he was done. "But it is dangerous... you should leave, Sky. I don't want you injured." Even as he spoke his eyes changed to a bright blue from their red and the claws on his paws extended to twice their length and quite sharper. His size doubled and his teeth that had already poked out of his mouth grew even longer and more pointed. He hoped she wasn't frightened by his appearance... he'd need to be like this if he needed to fight an entire pack.
You should leave her. Let her be their bait. the daemon hissed in Hokuze's head. Rather than ignore him, Hokuze replied confidently.
Let them come. They cannot take me on. he said, earning slight respect from the daemon.

She began trambling ago as he changed, getting even more scary then he had been to start with. She had started to see him as just a normal wolf with odd...add ons? But now she trually saw the demon in him. On the other had, she still found herself trusting him still. She backed slowly away as many growls and howls rang, getting closer and closer to them all teh time.
